LEMON Leadership® review

 

My personal experience with LEMON Leadership®: Here is my review and why I became an accredited facilitator for LEMON Leadership®.

There are not many books that I read, re-read, study and quote as much as the Bible. LEMON Leadership® is one of those books. I bought the book in 2009 after doing a LEMON Leadership® assessment. 

What is Lemon Leadership?

LEMON for Lovers provides valuable insights on understanding, communicating with, and relating to the “significant others” in your life, including your spouse and children.

 

My Leadership Type is an Organiser, and I am proud to be one. When I realised this, it was a breakthrough for me. For years, I felt guilty that I can not keep doing the same thing day in and day out. LEMON Leadership® taught me how to use this as an advantage. I am a good problem solver and I get tasks done. These are core characteristics of the Organiser Leadership style.

LEMON Leadership®help with Self-awareness

I serve others and love it! I often take on too much; as a result, I feel overloaded. Consequently, I despise the very thing I love, serving. I can not always say no.

I did LEMON Leadership®, and became self-aware and studied my leadership type. Now, I am very particular about when I say “Yes” to a project. I only commit for short periods and not indefinitely. I seldom take on something until I have completed or handed over the previous project that I was busy with. Managing my time has become very important. I learned how to incorporate prayer-, play-, rest-, husband-, mom-, and me-time. This makes it possible for me to accomplish my list of things to do without burnout. 

Organisers usually get irritated by the Manager leadership style. By understanding the differences between the leadership styles, I realised that companies need all the different leadership types to grow. Managers are not there to irritate me. I now surround myself with them. They are the people who stay on and keep doing the day-to-day stuff that releases me to start new, fresh, and exciting new ventures. Without Managers, I will not be able to accomplish the things I do.

LEMON Leadership® helps you understand your horrible experiences with others.

A horrible experience highlighted the value of LEMON Leadership® to me. Although I realised his leadership type as a Manager, he did not appreciate my role as an Organiser. He had not done LEMON Leadership®, nor did he want to. I decided that it was better to distance myself from him, protecting the company and myself.

If he did LEMON Leadership®, he would learn to embrace the different leadership types around him, and the company he is trying to build will grow steadily, without so many people leaving too soon.

LEMON for Lovers®

My husband and I met after our messy divorces. We knew that we would have to do things differently in the subsequent marriage. And we do. We work on our relationship, despite the demands of work and kids. We did the LEMON for Lovers Course online, and it helped us focus on where we can improve. We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. Lemon for Lovers ignited a new appreciation for each other’s uniqueness again. 

I discovered something new! After 18 Years. I thought I knew everything about my hubby. 

Your Leadership style differs between work and home. In your relationship you grow toward each other.

My husband is a Manager/Organiser at work. He works from home. It is challenging for him with an immensely creative, expressive and busy wife (Organiser/Luminary, and four kids-(just as expressively creative). 

There are times where I would ask him, how is it that the people he works with get a very particular, organised and always on time attention to detail person, and we get the disorganised never on time, no structure guy? 

LEMON for Lovers® answered that because he is a Luminary/Networker at home! You have to come to a workshop to realise why this has such a huge impact!

Tools to handle Work from Home Stress

Now that we have learned to manage the Manager at work. We give him structure and solitude when needed. He loves his space. Together we dream how our family will change the world and we host a lot of social gatherings that stimulate the networker in him.

After reading the boo, and doing the assessment,t I realised that he had tremendous stress at work. He felt safe enough to be his secondary slice at home. 

Although I am glad that he does feel safe enough just to be himself, I wish I realised it earlier. I could have managed my responses better and assisted him in finding his centre sooner. We now have practical tools to help us with our emotional well-being.

Lemon for Lovers is a must if you want a marriage where you work as a team, raising well-rounded children and accomplish success in life, family and business.
